Colin Spence

BA (Hons), DipSP, Mini MBA

Colin is a sponsorship, experiential and brand activation leader with more than two decades delivering award-winning programmes across music, culture and sport.

He began his career while at business school, working part-time at The Boroughloch Agency on Scottish & Newcastle’s beer portfolio. After graduating in 1994, he joined KLP Euro RSCG (HAVAS) to deliver sales promotion for Tennent Caledonian Breweries and Carling, before moving into KLP’s entertainment team. There, he helped grow Tennent’s Lager’s music platform and went on to run the Carling portfolio - adding the NME Awards, Carling Weekend, and Reading & Leeds Festivals - earning the first of his UK Sponsorship Awards for T in the Park and T on the Fringe.

In 2003 he founded Material, a sponsorship and experiential agency, securing Tennent’s entire music portfolio.

Within the first year Material added the MTV Europe Awards; by 2004 it had won Bank of Scotland’s sponsorship portfolio (including the Edinburgh International Festival and the Scottish Premier League) and the Tennent’s football account.

Within two years, Material had become Scotland’s leading experiential agency across music, culture and sport.

Subsequently Colin’s experience grew, delivering work across multiple client sectors; utilities, financial services, FMCG and luxury.

As a hands-on executive founder for 20+ years, Colin led Material to European, UK and Scottish awards recognition across marketing, sponsorship and PR - as well as 1st in Best Small UK Business and Best Business Overall in Scotland at Great Places to Work.

Material delivered some of the world’s largest cultural experiential projects and was the only Scottish agency appointed to work on London 2012. It was also the only Scottish agency to deliver COP26, where Colin served as Creative Lead for the Green Zone.

Selected for Cross Creative in 2016, Colin’s exposure to US West Coast tech and SXSW catalysed Material’s push into immersive technology, producing award-winning work for Standard Life.

Anticipating growing ESG demand, he launched Material Change, a social and environmental strategy offer. Soon after, Material became a certified B Corp, championing sustainable practice for customers, colleagues and communities.

Today, Colin brings this blend of big-stage delivery, market leader thinking and SME pragmatism to S2 Partners - helping leadership teams turn brand, sponsorship and experience into measurable commercial outcomes.

Scott is a brand and commercial marketing leader with three decades working on category-defining brand launches and managing strategies for growth.

He began his career at Tennent Caledonian Breweries in 1990. As Head of Brand Sponsorship, he built one of the UK’s most valuable experiential portfolios in sport and music.

In football, for Tennent’s Lager, he delivered community programmes, co-produced an annual televised indoor tournament featuring SPFL clubs, and ran sponsorship of the Scottish FA Cup.

In rugby, with the SRU, he re-established the national cup competition and introduced league and 7’s activity to the Tennent’s Ale portfolio.

Building on Tennent’s grassroots music activations, Scott co-founded T in the Park in 1994 – the world’s first brand-driven music festival – which became Scotland’s landmark music event – at its peak, the second-largest greenfield festival in the UK. Brand impact was transformational.

Scott joined British Sky Broadcasting in 1996 during a defining era for the broadcaster.

As Brand Director, he co-led the consumer launch of digital television – a milestone in British broadcasting. Scott went on to become Marketing Director, overseeing channel and programming brands, highlights included marketing Sky Sports groundbreaking EPL coverage, major Sky Box Office PPV title fights, marquee programming like The Simpsons on Sky One, blockbuster and original content for Sky Movies, and award-winning coverage on Sky News, the UK’s first 24-hour news channel.

From 2000, as part of Sky’s leadership team, Scott managed consumer marketing for both the digital platform and Sky’s owned channels, accountable for brand health, customer subscription growth, channel & programme ratings, and interactive TV engagement.

After seven years at Sky, Scott founded a broadcast marketing consultancy, spending the next 14 years advising leading national pay-tv operators – Sky Italia (Italy), Foxtel (Australia), MBC (UAE), Astro (Malaysia), Indovision (Indonesia), ProSiebenSat1 (Germany) and OSN (UAE) – on platform repositioning and customer acquisition strategy in the digital era.

Between 2011-2021, Scott was an independent board director of a respected London & New York branding agency, and from 2004 – 2025 served as NXD of a Glasgow-based experiential B-Corp, focusing on value proposition, governance and corporate development.

Since June 2014, Scott has directed a unified resource development business with assets in key Scottish coastal locations, building sustainable revenues in renewable energy, industrial minerals, tourism, mixed-use land & property and natural capital.

In 2025, Scott co-founded S2 Partners, specialising in marketing and commercial advice & strategy, project oversight and resourcing & enablement.
